What can I put in the commingled recycling bin?
In our 240-litre commingled recycling bin, you can place glass bottles, cans, milk bottles, paper, plastic containers, tetra packs, and disposable coffee cups — all loose, without plastic bags. It’s an easy and convenient way to recycle various items.
What should I do with my used cooking oil?
For used cooking oil, we provide a 90-litre spill-proof wheelie bin. It has a locking lid and is easy to manoeuvre right into your kitchen. Once full, we’ll exchange it for a clean one. Please note, this service is exclusive to our existing rubbish and recycling customers.
How do I dispose of cardboard?
For cardboard disposal, choose between our 600-litre Flexi Sack for space-saving and easy handling, or our 1100-litre Mobile Bin for higher volume needs. The Flexi Sack is ideal for restaurants, cafes, retail spaces, and offices with limited space, while the Mobile Bin is perfect for larger establishments with substantial rubbish generation.
Do you offer recycling services for food waste?
Yes, we do! Our food waste bins accept a variety of food scraps including vegetables, fruits, meat, seafood, bread, and biodegradable packaging. We offer both 60-litre orange bags for low volume and 240-litre wheelie bins for high volume food waste.
What is the capacity of your food waste bins?
Our food waste bins come in two sizes: the low volume 60-litre orange bags and the high volume 240-litre wheelie bins, catering to different needs and scales of waste production.
Is there a service for recycling batteries?
Yes, we offer a battery recycling service that includes collection and processing. This service is hand-sorted at our West Auckland depot for maximum efficiency. Please note that this service is exclusive to our rubbish and recycling customers.
What do I do when my battery tube is full?
Once your battery tube is full, just give us a call. We’ll collect the batteries from your site and take them to our West Auckland depot for sorting and processing. Please note, this service is only available to Rubbish Direct’s rubbish & recycling customers.
What items are prohibited in the commingled recycling bins?
The only item not allowed in our commingled recycling bins is plastic bags. All other items like glass bottles, cans, and paper products are acceptable.
