How long can I have my bin for?
Casual bins – Casual bins are short-term hire for one month or less, anything exceeding this duration of time will include a monthly bin hire fee.
Skip bin – The hire period for a skip bin is three days. However, we can accommodate longer renovation projects, subject to availability. If you require the skip bin for longer than three days, please inform our customer service team to discuss further.
What items are prohibited?
The following is a list of allowed and prohibited items for each service.
Recycling bin: You can place glass bottles, cans, milk bottles, paper, plastic containers, tetra packs, and disposable coffee cups โ all loose, without plastic bags.

Inorganic: Inorganic waste typically includes non-biodegradable items such as appliances, furniture, electronics, and other large items that canโt be disposed of through regular waste services.

Skip bin: Certain hazardous materials should not be placed in the skip bins. This includes flammable, toxic, explosive, eco-toxic, infectious, and radioactive materials. For the safe disposal of these items, please refer to the Auckland Councilโs guidelines. Additionally, items like large quantities of soil, asbestos, gas bottles, tyres, batteries, liquids, paint, and un-degassed fridges or freezers are prohibited.
