Successful applicants who need to obtain a work visa under the NZ Immigration Act 2009, are advised to familiarise themselves with the process as it is their responsibility to apply in time to arrive in NZ before the job offer expires.
Applicants applying for an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) must understand they will undergo a medical examination to assess their standard of health and need to obtain police clearance prior to being issued with a visa.
Work Visas must be presented to the employer prior to the employee starting work, and the candidate also agrees to notify the employer immediately of any event or issue that would affect the candidate’s right to be lawfully employed in NZ. This includes but is not limited to:
- Expiry of the work visa.
- If the work visa is revoked/declined.
- Change of conditions
If a work visa is revoked, expires, or otherwise becomes invalid the employer is entitled to terminate the employment on giving a week’s notice.

Criminal History

As part of your visa application, you are required to supply a police clearance certificate to Immigration New Zealand. Any offer of employment is conditional on us receiving a copy of the police clearance certificate. It is important to note that if you have lived and worked in more than one country you might be required to provide a police clearance certificate for each country as well as other related documentation.
