ABOUT RUBBISH DIRECT

A waste company built around people, transparency and doing the job properly.

Rubbish Direct is a New Zealand waste and recycling company that has been operating since 1999. From one of our earliest rubbish trucks to today’s waste, recycling and site-specific services, the business has grown around a practical idea: look after people, solve problems and do the job properly.

Rubbish Direct Waste and Recycling Fleet in Auckland

Rubbish Direct has grown from a small local operator into an established waste and recycling business.

WHERE IT STARTED

It started with a rubbish truck in 1999.

Rubbish Direct began in Auckland in 1999. The early business was small, practical and built around finding ways to meet customer needs rather than forcing every site into the same service.

Recycling became part of the story early. The company set up its own sorting operation, and in 2001 purchased its first box-body truck to support a mixed recycling service for Auckland customers.

That early focus on practical service, sorting and problem-solving still shapes how Rubbish Direct works today.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SERVICE

Still a people business.

Rubbish Direct has grown significantly since it started in 1999. Today, more than 100 people work across collections, operations, recycling, fleet support and the teams behind the service.

Trucks, bins and facilities matter, but people remain at the centre of how the business works — solving problems, supporting customers and keeping services moving every day.

As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same: look after our people, our customers and the communities we serve.
